Women in Medicine Month

AACOM applauds U.S. Representatives Diana Harshbarger (R-TN), Chellie Pingree (D-ME) and Sam Graves (R-MO) for introducing the Fair Access in Residency (FAIR) Act. “We appreciate Reps. Harshbarger, Pingree and Graves’ effort to address the unfair barriers and discrimination that osteopathic medical students face when applying to federally funded residency training,” said Dr. Cain.

Awards & Leadership

Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine’s additional location in Great Falls, Montana, has received pre-accreditation status to recruit students and begin operations. Touro is completing a 100,000-square-foot state-of-the-art medical school campus, which will house multiple classrooms, an anatomy lab and simulation center. The inaugural class is anticipated to enroll 125 students and is scheduled to begin classes in July 2023.

Graduate Medical Education

AACOM, in partnership with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and Association of American Medical Colleges, is proud to share the first-ever Clinician Educator Milestones. This resource is designed to support development and improvement of teaching and learning skills across the continuum of medical education.

AOGME Webinars

Join us for a webinar on October 5 at 4:00 PM ET featuring Meaghan Ruddy, PhD, of The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education, as she shares her organization's experience with the Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) program. This webinar will discuss the application process, lessons learned and tips from their experience pursuing a THCGME grant.

AACOM Webinars

AACOM recently hosted a webinar with the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), where students learned about the (S2S LRP). The NHSC S2S LRP provides qualified individuals up to $120,000 in tax-free loan repayment for medical school student loans, in exchange for a three-year service commitment in a high-need rural, tribal or urban community.

Osteopathic Medical Education

The National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME), an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides competency assessments for osteopathic medical licensure and related healthcare professions, has announced the 14 members of the task force that will provide oversight for its Core Competency Capstone for DOs (C3DO) project.

Interprofessional Collaboration

The Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) is hosting their second Virtual Poster Fair on November 29. Health professions educators, students and practitioners are invited to share their experiences and stimulate conversations about implementing interprofessional education for collaborative initiatives. Please register by Friday, November 18.
