We are excited to announce the next iteration of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (SMDEP) and a formal Call for Proposals (CFP) for new program sites. New this year, the SMDEP program will be launching an Interprofessional Pilot
, expanding eligibility to broaden beyond medicine and dentistry. The SMDEP program is a free, summer enrichment program to strengthen the academic proficiency and career development opportunities for rising sophomore and junior college students interested in pursuing a health care career.
This new approach supports the Foundation’s commitment to build a national Culture of Health and to promote interprofessional collaboration. Applicants should include: 1) a school of medicine (MD or DO); 2) a school of dentistry; and 3) at least one other health profession program/school from the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC). All accredited medical and dental schools are eligible to apply, along with an accredited health professions school.
For more information, go to www.rwjf.org/cfp/mmere. Interested applicants are invited to attend an informational webinar on the SMDEP Interprofessional Pilot on February 17, 2016 at 3:00 PM ET.
The Association of American Medical Colleges and the American Dental Education Association jointly serve as the National Program Office for the SMDEP program, providing technical assistance and direction.
