Online database lists formerly AOA-approved programs that transitioned to ACGME accreditation
The American Osteopathic Association (AOA) maintains an online database, Opportunities, listing all currently AOA-approved programs. The primary purpose of Opportunities is to research training programs for the AOA residency match. Osteopathic medical students also use it to learn about programs for clinical rotation experiences.
As we transition to the single graduate medical education (GME) accreditation system, programs will achieve ACGME accreditation and will drop their AOA approval status and therefore will not be displayed in Opportunities. Just because they are not in Opportunities does not mean you should forget them!
To assist you in tracking these valuable programs, the AOA created a new list of all AOA-approved programs that fully transitioned to ACGME accreditation and therefore are no longer listed in the Opportunities website. This list includes the program name, specialty, city and state, ACGME and AOA program ID numbers, and links to each program website. Students interested in clinical rotations are encouraged to use this list to contact program(s) of interest. View the Opportunities website.
