The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) is pleased to announce the launch of its UME-GME Digital Resource Library. This new online tool is designed to support graduate medical education (GME) professionals, residents, and others seeking or maintaining Osteopathic Recognition by providing them with a platform for sharing and finding osteopathic GME faculty development and other educational resources.
The library is comprised of a robust and ever-growing collection of textbooks, webinars, course curricula, workshop materials, recorded live events, and other resources. These materials were solicited from and submitted by members of the UME-GME Continuum Initiative’s Faculty Development for Programs with Osteopathic Recognition working group, a nine-member committee comprised of thought leaders from across the osteopathic medical education continuum. The library is now open to the public. New resources will be collected on an ongoing basis through the UME-GME Digital Resource Library online submission portal. All submitted resources will be critically reviewed by members of AACOM’s Assembly of Osteopathic Graduate Medical Educators (AOGME) and other medical education and GME leaders before being accepted into the library.
The UME-GME Digital Resource Library is the brainchild of AACOM’s UME-GME Continuum Initiative’s Faculty Development for Programs with Osteopathic Recognition working group. In 2018, the group conducted a scan to determine critical needs for those seeking or maintaining Osteopathic Recognition throughout the profession and available resources for those seeking support. Outcomes of the scan informed the development of a centralized digital repository specifically for osteopathic GME resources. The goal of this project is to advance osteopathic GME by cultivating effective training resources for programs providing requisite education in Osteopathic Principles and Practice.
