The 5th Annual National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD) will be held on April 16, 2012, to inspire, educate and empower the public and providers about the importance of advance care planning. Studies indicate that most Americans have not planned for the possibility of one day being unable to make decisions regarding their health care.
The NHDD seeks to educate Americans about how to plan for this potential scenario, and provides information and resources that can be used for making future health care decisions. The NHDD initiative is a collaborative effort of national, state and community organizations that are committed to ensuring that all adults with decision-making capacity in the United States have the information and opportunity they need to communicate and document their health care decisions.
