Registration is now open for the 2012 Medical Education Futures Study (MEFS) conference, “Beyond Flexner: Social Mission in Medical Education." This year’s conference is being co-chaired by Gerard Clancy, MD, President, University of Oklahoma-Tulsa; and Fitzhugh Mullan, MD, Murdock Head Professor of Medicine and Health Policy at the George Washington University School of Public Health and a Professor of Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine. The roster of featured speakers has been recently updated to include a presentation from Barbara Ross Lee, DO, Vice President for Health Sciences and Medical Affairs, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of The New York Institute of Technology (NYCOM/NYIT). The conference will be held May 15-17 at the Hyatt Regency Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The purpose of the conference is to bring national attention to schools with strong social mission agendas, create a forum for collaboration and shared innovations among socially accountable medical schools, and legitimize the important role of medical education in addressing health inequities.
