Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius recently appointed Jay Bhatt, DO, MPH, to the National Advisory Council (NAC) of the National Health Services Corps (NHSC). The NAC is a group of health care providers and administrators who provide their expertise to a wide array of NHSC programs aimed at meeting the health care needs of underserved communities.

Dr. Bhatt earned his doctorate in osteopathic medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). While studying at PCOM, he became the first osteopathic medical student to serve as President of the American Medical Student Association (AMSA).
