New Dean Takes Helm at UNECOM

On November 1, 2012, Douglas L. Wood, DO, PhD, FACOI, assumed the role of Senior Vice President of Health Affairs and Dean of the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM). He replaces Dr. Peter Dane, who was serving as UNECOM Interim Dean prior to Dr. Wood’s appointment. A visionary leader in osteopathic medical education, Dr. Wood served as President of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) from 1995 to 2005, Founding Dean of the A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) from 2005 to 2010 and, most recently, as Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs at ATSU.

KCUMB President and Chief Executive Officer Steps Down

The Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCUMB) recently announced the resignation of H. Danny Weaver, DO, FACOFP, President and Chief Executive Officer, effective December 31, 2012. Dr. Weaver has served as KCUMB President and Chief Executive Officer since 2010. A national search for Dr. Weaver’s successor is currently underway. KCUMB Board of Trustees Vice-Chair Marshall Walker, DO, will serve as Acting President and Chief Executive Officer until a permanent replacement is found.
