On February 27, AACOM will host its 2013 COM Day on Capitol Hill for members of its Board of Deans.  Seventeen deans from the nation’s participating colleges of osteopathic medicine (COMs) will meet with federal legislators and their staffs to discuss issues of importance to the COMs and to osteopathic medical education.  Deans participating in AACOM’s 2013 COM Day will attend a morning legislative briefing followed by meetings on Capitol Hill.  Due to the continuing negotiations in Congress on the federal deficit and sequestration (mandated across-the-board federal spending cuts under the Budget Control Act of 2011), it remains vital for AACOM and its member institutions to have a continuous presence on Capitol Hill to increase awareness of proposed federal funding cuts and the impact that these cuts will have on the COMs and their students.
