In May, the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM) and the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine-New York (TouroCOM-NY) each received final approval from the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA), the accrediting body for all osteopathic medical schools in the United States, to open an additional campus location.
The new OU-HCOM extension campus will be located in Warrensville Heights, OH, and operate in affiliation with the Cleveland Clinic. The inaugural class of 32 medical students will begin classes in 2015, although the school has been authorized to offer instruction of up to 50 students. The TouroCOM-NY extension campus will be located in Middletown, NY, with plans to open its doors to an inaugural class of roughly 125 students in 2014.
