The results of the 2013 American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Match program have been announced and are current as of February 11, 2013. Out of a total 2,900 available positions, 1,891 were filled in the Match, with 1,009 positions remaining open.
The AOA Match program places graduating medical students into osteopathic graduate medical education positions for their postdoctoral training.The application process for this year’s program began in June 2012 and ended on January 25, 2013, with the majority of student applications received by the AOA-recommended date of November 1, 2012. This was also a notable year for osteopathic medical school graduates seeking residency spots in the 2013 National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Of the 2,677 osteopathic medical school applicants particiating in the NRMP, 2019 (or 75.4 percent) were matched. This is the highest percentage of matched osteopathic applicants in the NRMP to date.
