On October 6, U.S. Representative Brad Wenstrup, DPM
(R-OH) will address AACOM Advocacy Day attendees, providing an update on federal policies impacting the OME community. Rep. Wenstrup is a longstanding champion of GME, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and the co-chair of the House GOP Doctor’s Caucus.

On October 6, you will also hear from congressional staff members Stephanie Johnson, RDN, LD, Legislative Assistant, Senator Jon Tester (D-MT), and Jay Eberle, Legislative Assistant, Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), during a bipartisan informational panel discussion covering the latest health policy developments as well as firsthand tips for successful advocacy.
OME Topics You'll Be Elevating to Congress
On October 7, advocates will send messages directly to Members of Congress through the AACOM Action Center urging them to:
- Remove discriminatory restrictions on DOs at federally funded graduate medical education (GME) programs
- Increase National Institutes of Health research funding and representation for osteopathic medical schools
- Strengthen rural GME
- Authorize health professions students to vaccinate during public health emergencies
