As of Tuesday, May 5, the AACOM Application Service (AACOMAS), the centralized online application service for the nation’s osteopathic medical colleges, launched the new application system for the 2016 application cycle. With more advanced features and functionality, this updated system will result in a more efficient application process for prospective students.

Because of the tremendous growth in osteopathic medical education (OME), prospective students are strongly encouraged to begin their applications as early as possible. On June 15, the U.S. colleges of osteopathic medicine (COMs) will begin processing applications for the fall 2016 entering class.

The new AACOMAS system provides updated tools and resources to optimize the application process, and includes the following enhancements for the 2016 application cycle

  • Mobile access to check the status of applications and notifications.
The application uses responsive design technology, which enables applicants to access their application status and notifications on mobile devices.
  • Easier, faster coursework entry.
The application's intuitive user interface and streamlined coursework entry process reduces the average time an applicant spends filling out the application from 4-8 hours to 1-4 hours.
  • Optional coursework entry service.
For an additional fee, applicants can elect to have an AACOMAS staff member input their transcript coursework on their behalf.
  • Quicker application processing times.
In the 2016 cycle, we guarantee to verify applications in under four weeks.
  • Submit letters of recommendation through AACOMAS.
In addition to other services (Interfolio, VirtualEvals, mail, etc.) applicants will now have the option to submit their letters of recommendation through AACOMAS.

Premedical advisors and applicants are encouraged to review and utilize the new 2016 AACOMAS Instructions and FAQs as a comprehensive guide to successfully completing and submitting an osteopathic medical school application.

The 2016 Osteopathic Medical College Information Book (CIB) is another valuable resource for prospective applicants, students, pre-health advisors, and others interested in osteopathic medical school. The fall 2016 edition includes updated admissions requirements, tuition, fees, application deadlines, and other important information for each of the 31 U.S. colleges of osteopathic medicine. Digital and print versions of the 2016 CIB are now available. You can download the pdf on the 2016 Osteopathic Medical College Information Book web page, or order the print version at the AACOM Online Store to order the print version.
