KCU Names Interim Dean of Joplin Osteopathic Medical School Campus
John Dougherty, DO, currently the senior associate dean for clinical affairs and graduate medical education at KCU, has been named the interim dean of the new Joplin campus of the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCU-COM). As interim dean, Dr. Dougherty will assist with curriculum design, faculty recruitment, and development of the KCU-COM Joplin campus, while the university recruits a permanent dean.
Carrie Collins, JD, Joins PCOM as CAO
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) recently announced Carrie Collins, JD, as the College’s Chief Advancement Officer (CAO), effective August 10, 2015. Most recently, Ms. Collins served as the Vice President for Institutional Advancement at University of the Sciences (USciences) in Philadelphia, where she led the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. Among her professional achievements, Ms. Collins was recognized as one of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” for her fundraising success in March 2014.
PCOM Inaugurates Eighth President and CEO
The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) recently announced the forthcoming inauguration of Jay S. Feldstein, DO, as the COM’s 8th president and CEO. Dr. Feldstein assumed the presidency on July 1, 2014, succeeding Matthew Shure, PhD, who had served as PCOM President and CEO since 2001. The inauguration ceremony will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015.
WesternU/COMP Names Interim President
On August 7, the Western University of Health Sciences/College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (WesternU/COMP) Board of Trustees announced Gary Gugelchuk, PhD, as interim president. Dr. Gugelchuk, a 29-year employee of WesternU/COMP has served as the University’s Provost and Chief Operating Officer since February 2012.
Following the official retirement of Founding President Philip Pumerantz, PhD, Dr. Gugelchuk will begin serving as WesternU/COMP Interim President, effective September 8, 2015. Dr. Pumerantz announced his retirement in April of this year, and will serve as President Emeritus after September 8. A national search for his permanent successor is underway. The search is expected to continue into 2016.
