yan Nguyen, a fourth-year student at Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (WesternU/COMP), began his Osteopathic Health Policy Internship (OHPI) with AACOM’s Office of Government Relations on Monday, February 29.
Ryan (at left) holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has served as President of WesternU/COMP’s American Medical Student Association Chapter, Education Coordinator of WesternU/COMP’s chapter of the Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of California (OPSC), as well as Service Coordinator of the WesternU/COMP chapter of Sigma Sigma Phi. Ryan is a recipient of several awards, including the OPSC Student Award, and is a Foundation Scholar and member of the California Academy of Family Practice.
Ryan plans to focus his policy research on the repercussions of funding cuts to graduate medical education and analyze possible policy measures to address this issue. His internship will last through April 21.
