AOA November 2018 Postgraduate Update
On November 16, the AOA disseminated a postgraduate update which included data on the transition of AOA-approved programs to ACGME-accreditation. Among the data provided, the update notes that "77 percent of all AOA training positions we had in 2015 when the process began are now ACGME-accredited." In addition, of the 1,244 programs as of July 1, 2015, 72 percent have applied or been accredited by the ACGME. The update also highlighted results from the recent round of ACGME Review Committee meetings and program reviews in October. Read more of the AOA Postgraduate Update.
Transitional Year Program Requirements for Review and Comment
The ACGME Transitional Year Review Committee recently posted proposed focused revisions for a review and comment period ending on December 5, 2018. View the Impact Statement and Program Requirements. Submit comments to firstname.lastname@example.org. Learn more.
ACGME Seeks Volunteers for Milestones Work Groups
The ACGME invites the graduate medical education community to serve on Work Groups to review the current Milestones and to determine changes that may be necessary. Interested nominees are encouraged to fill out volunteer forms by November 30, 2018. For more information, email email@example.com.
Status of Applications to the ACGME
Table 1 provides a brief snapshot of the status of ACGME applications through the single accreditation system as of November 27, 2018. The data are pulled from the ACGME Accreditation Data System (ADS) public site
. These data only capture applications of programs and institutions through the single accreditation system process and do not include programs that may have been previously ACGME accredited, such as dually-accredited programs.

This webinar, featuring Tiffany Moss, MBA, Executive Director, Osteopathic Accreditation, ACGME, held on October 11, reviewed updates to the osteopathic recognition application and to the information collected in the ACGME ADS for programs with Osteopathic Recognition. Common Osteopathic Recognition citations and best practices were reviewed for programs applying for and with Osteopathic Recognition.
