Scholar in Residence Application Information

Application Summary

Applications are reviewed quarterly with deadlines of March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31.  After consultation with appropriate colleagues and supervisors, the applicant will complete and submit the form below. AACOM will then request a written nomination from the applicant's department chair or appropriate supervisor with confirmation of the financial support and signature of the applicant's dean.

The applicant, medical dean and department chair will together develop a proposal/work plan for what is to be accomplished through the Scholarship to assist the local COM and contribute to the greater osteopathic medical education community.

The candidate will submit a description of their current teaching/administrative responsibilities and the various teaching strategies and experiences provided. In the same document the candidate will describe the particular focus of study they wish to pursue with a rationale for developing an expertise in that area. It is anticipated that once selected as a Scholar and progress is made in the Education Scholar Program that goals may be amended.

Both the dean and candidate must determine the appropriate length of time necessary to achieve their goals and AACOM's goals for the Scholarship. Most Scholars are expected to be in residence at AACOM's headquarters for three months. Some may require six months to achieve the depth of work necessary to meet their goals.

By offering your expertise, you will have a vital role in shaping the future of osteopathic medical education. We look forward to reviewing your completed application.
