Forty-two private
colleges of osteopathic medicine (COMs) and seven public COMs reported data for
the 2022-23 Cost of Attendance (COA) Report. Three COMs have reported a
decrease in COA, including two private COMs and one public COM. Fifteen COMs
reported a decrease in average graduate indebtedness since academic year
2020-21, including 12 private COMs and three public COMs.
The weighted average total cost of attendance for
private COMs is $343,989 which is a difference of $6,845 or 2.0 percent since
the 2021-22 COA Report; the average cost of attendance for private COMs is
$85,997 which is a difference of $1,711 or 2.0 percent. The weighted
average total cost of attendance for public COMs is $287,334 which is a
difference of $5,387 or 1.9 percent since the 2021-22 COA Report; the average
cost of attendance is $71,833 which is a difference of $1,347 or 1.9 percent
since the 2021-22 COA Report. The weighted average total cost of
attendance for both private and public COMs is $335,895 which is a difference
of $7,919 or 2.4 percent since the 2021-22 COA Report; the average cost of
attendance for both public and private COMs is $83,974 which is a difference of
$1,980 or 2.4 percent since the 2021-22 COA Report.
The difference in weighted average total cost of
attendance between private and public COMs is $56,656 or 17.9 percent which is
a difference of $1,458 or an increase of 2.6 percent since the 2021-22 COA
Report; the difference in average cost of attendance between private and public
COMs is $14,164 or 17.9 percent which is a difference of $364 or an increase of
2.6 percent since the 2021-22 COA Report.
The difference in weighted total cost of attendance for both
public and private COMs when compared to academic year 2021-22 is $7,919 or 2.4
percent; the difference in average cost of attendance is $1,980 or 2.4 percent
when compared to academic year 2021-22.
