The Case for an Osteopathic Entrustable Professional Activity

This article in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association (JAOA) is a resource for residency programs seeking osteopathic recognition, and for medical educators interested in preserving and promoting osteopathic distinction. Language is proposed for an osteopathic Entrustable Professional Activities for Entering Residency (EPA) entitled "Integrate osteopathic principles and practice into clinical practice."
Analysis is included showing that significant osteopathic principles are omitted from the 13 core EPAs proposed by AAMC, and how the AACOM strategy of embedding them within an allopathic framework obscures their unity. The article offers a holistic remedy in a 14th, standalone, osteopathic EPA.
