- In December 2023, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) issued its final rule to implement the new Pilot Program on Graduate Medical Education and Residency (PPGMER).
- PPGMER will enable the VA to fund at least 100 residents to train at eligible facilities within and outside of the VA system, including at federally qualified health centers or other facilities the VA considers appropriate, and centers operated by an Indian tribe, tribal organization, the Indian Health Service and the Department of Defense.
- The VA will issue a future request for proposals for interested covered parties to apply, including osteopathic medical schools. AACOM will be providing additional information and resources to the osteopathic medical education community.
