Our New Branding

The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) is fast approaching its 125th anniversary. This milestone is an opportune moment to look back on more than a century of medical innovation and a rich history of training world-class, compassionate physicians at our colleges of osteopathic medicine.

This is also an opportune time to look forward … a time to refocus our sights on building a future that emphasizes health and wellness for all people … a time to engage and inspire those who would face a world of epidemics, pandemics, restrictive access and underservice head-on … a time to educate those who are called to care and inspired to cure as doctors of osteopathic medicine.

With these goals in mind, following a thorough and collaborative process, AACOM has reimagined its logo and broader visual identity. Our identity now reflects the energy, innovation and medical excellence of the individuals and entities we represent.

A Symbol of Medicine, Uniquely Ours

The Rod of Asclepius (a serpent-entwined rod wielded by the Greek God of medicine was strategically integrated into the mark as an iconic and instantly recognizable visual associated with medicine. The symbol sits within the ‘O’ for osteopathic – distinct from other characters – a bold nod to osteopathic medicine’s whole-person philosophy.

The eagle-eyed among you will notice that the icon also features a subtle ‘D’ and ‘O’ within the snake itself – uniquely merging two symbols of medicine, the Rod of Asclepius and the letters that identify osteopathic physicians.

A Commitment to Storytelling

AACOM’s new identity will serve as a foundation for expanded storytelling, drawing on the rich insights and reflections of all those who contributed to the brand exploration process. One core theme that emerged in the examination of the brand positioning was the idea of ‘connection,’ which has been captured in a new brand video titled, “The Power of Connection.”
