Graduates Osteopathic Medical Colleges Race/Ethnicity Research Reports Trends

The total for 2022-23 graduates is 7,891 which is a difference of 189 graduates or a 2.5 percent increase since 2021-22 graduates.  

The underrepresented in medicine (URiM) percentage for 2022-23 graduates is 10.1 (10.125) percent when compared to 9.9 (9.867) percent for 2021-22 graduates. This 2.6 percent increase is attributed to growth in the following URiM categories:

  • Hispanic/Latino has a difference of 54 graduates or an 11.5 percent increase
  • Pacific Islander, non-Hispanic has a difference of three graduates or a 42.9 percent increase

However, there is a demographic decline for the following URiM categories when compared to 2021-22 graduates:

  • American Indian/Alaska Native, non-Hispanic has a difference of 17 graduates or a 58.6 percent decrease
  • Black/African American, non-Hispanic has a difference of one graduate or a 0.4 percent decrease
