As a Native American and Mexican woman in medicine, Glynis Castaneda, OMS III at Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine, has inherited from her ancestors an ideology of holistic healing that considers the body, mind and spirit as interconnected, aligning with osteopathic principles and practice. She feels good about the important role that DOs play in addressing the physician shortage in the United States, yet feels that not enough is being done to address the limits being unfairly placed on the profession.
