“As I was told by a surgeon that if he had two DO applicants and one MD applicant, he would simply accept the MD and throw out the DOs.” Nevan McCabe, OMS II at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Colorado, shares his experience encountering bias against DO candidates in the residency selection process and how his time as an advocate has shown him the importance of not just recognizing an issue, but executing a solution. Nevan advocates for the Fair Access in Residency (FAIR) Act because fairly treating DO and MD students allows us to build a more well-rounded, versatile and robust healthcare system. We encourage you to spend one minute or less recording and uploading your video about what the FAIR Act means to you. Don’t forget to urge Congress to cosponsor and pass the FAIR Act! |
