Osteopathic Health Policy Fellowship

Nicklaus Hess, DONicklaus Hess, DO, completed the Osteopathic Health Policy Fellowship (OHPF) in 2022. He is currently practicing family medicine and OMT in Centerville, OH. Dr. Hess is also the Western Unit clinical assistant dean and an assistant clinical professor of OMM at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. Additionally, he is a preceptor for the Soin Family Medicine Residency Program and is a Costin Scholar. 

Since completing the OHPF, Dr. Hess has been selected for several exciting leadership opportunities. He became a Fellow in the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians in March 2023. In April 2023, he was installed as President of the Ohio Osteopathic Association (OOA).  The OOA is a divisional society of the American Osteopathic Association that advocates on behalf of patients and osteopathic physicians and students throughout the state of Ohio.  The OOA is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, and at 37, Dr. Hess is the youngest president of this organization. Dr. Hess is also currently the Vice Chief of Staff for Kettering Health Dayton (KHD), formerly Grandview Medical Center. He will begin his term as Chief of Staff in 2025. Founded as the Dayton Osteopathic Hospital, KHD has served the city of Dayton, OH for nearly 100 years and is one of the largest osteopathic teaching hospitals in the United States. Dr. Hess credits the OHPF with supporting his growth as a health policy resource and empowering him to be a greater healthcare leader.
