HIRED: Tomorrow's Arkansas Biomedical Innovators: Bridging Gaps in Medical Technology Workforce
Date Published March 10, 2026
HIRED: Tomorrow's Arkansas Biomedical Innovators: Bridging Gaps in Medical Technology Workforce is situated within a newly expanded research ecosystem at the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (ACHE) and seeks to develop a skilled biomedical workforce through immersive research, clinical collaboration and hands-on training. HIRED’s aims to cultivate tomorrow’s biomedical innovators by integrating preclinical science, translational research and applied rehabilitation studies into the educational pathways of ACHE students and faculty. HIRED looks to incorporate exercise intervention research and community-facing programs—such as initiatives for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injuries and Gross Motor Development programs for new mothers—into student training and faculty-led studies. These practical, community-engaged research experiences are transformative for student learning and professional development. By situating HIRED within these new ACHE resources, the project leverages interdisciplinary collaboration, clinical partnerships, and applied training to bridge gaps in the medical technology workforce. Students gain direct exposure to state-of-the-art laboratory methods, translational research workflows in partnership with clinical systems and hands-on rehabilitation research that informs patient-centered care. This program expands capacity for innovative studies, fosters mentorship between experienced investigators and trainees and equips emerging professionals with the technical and translational skills needed in Arkansas’s evolving healthcare and biomedical technology sectors. The facilities thus function as catalysts for HIRED’s long-term objective: to produce competent, compassionate biomedical innovators who can translate research into improved health outcomes across the region. |
