The Center for Indigenous Health Research and Policy (CIHRP) at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences, is leading an Indigenous Foodways and Health Initiative supported. The funding will bolster indigenous food systems and practices that strengthen language revitalization and access to traditional foods, with CIHRP partnering closely with Native communities to identify priorities and evaluate the health impacts of culturally grounded programs. The initiative which support and reinvigorate cultural practices and traditions are among the most effective strategies for promoting health. The donation is intended to support Native peoples in implementing programs that are culturally centered and employ indigenous research methods, giving communities authority over program design, implementation and evaluation.
