Lead Poisoning Prevention Activities & Case Management Supports
Date Published March 15, 2026
Lead Poisoning Prevention Activities & Case Management Supports works to address primary prevention of lead exposure and coordinated case management for individuals and families affected or at risk. Anchored within UNE’s institutional context—whose research and community engagement infrastructure includes centers and offices such as the Center for Excellence in Public Health and the Office of Research and Innovation—this work aligns with the university’s broader commitments to community health, interprofessional education and local partnerships.
The program offers preventive interventions designed to reduce risk of lead exposure in homes and environments and case management services to support individuals identified with elevated lead exposure or related needs. Such an integrated approach typically involves community engagement, risk assessment, education, referral systems, and coordination with clinical and social services.
The project emphasizes local responsiveness and applied public health practice. Case management supports within the project title underscore a person-centered orientation—connecting affected households to clinical follow-up, environmental remediation resources, housing supports, and educational materials as needed. Prevention activities point toward upstream strategies that reduce exposure risk through hazard identification, household assessments, community education campaigns and partnerships with housing authorities or code enforcement.
