UNTHSC-TCOM Students Lead Initiative to Create Reflection Room for Campus

A student-led initiative is bringing a terrific new wellness addition to University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC). Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNTHSC-TCOM) second-year students Hadia Aziz and Rupali Gautam spearheaded the project that will bring a Reflection Room to the UNTHSC Gibson D. On Saturday, February 8, Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU)'s Alumni Department hosted the second-annual PNWU Ski Day. RVU Students Host High Schoolers for their first Medical School Immersion Field Trip

In partnership with the Children's Hospital of Colorado and Denver Health, Rocky Vista University (RVU) students hosted sixty underrepresented high school students from the Medical Career Collaborative (MC-2) program on Saturday, February 15th. During their first annual Medical School Immersion Field Trip, the high school students participated in workshops including Anatomy Lab, Suturing Lab, Ultrasound and EKG, Airway Management and OPP. Therapy dogs bring pawsitivity during finals week at ICOMAs student-doctors at the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) wrapped up their final exams on Wednesday, Feb. 19, they were visited by a group of four-legged friends. A team of therapy dogs from Go Team Therapy Dogs of Idaho, the local chapter of a national non-profit organization, visited ICOM's Meridian campus to provide stress relief and emotional support. NYITCOM's Dean and Associate Dean Recognized with the My Boss is a Patriot Award

The Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) organization recognized Dean Shane Speights, DO, and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs Amanda Deel, DO, with the "My Boss is a Patriot Award" this week, and New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) at A-State was recognized for the COM's support of the military. The My Boss is a Patriot award was created by the ESGR organization to recognize individuals who go above and beyond to support citizen soldiers and giving their employees an opportunity to serve their country. Cancer Didn't Stop VCOM-Virginia Student

Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine—Virginia Campus (VCOM-Virginia) student Marianne Abadam was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin Lymphoma in her first year at medical school, but she would not let that get in her way. "I was 26 when I started chemo, and I'm 27 now. I didn't wait for 26, 27 years to skip out of medical school now. I took off time after my undergrad. I'm here, and I don't plan on leaving," said Marianne.

NSU-KPCOM Hosts Inaugural Health Exposition at Tampa Bay Regional Campus

On February 15, the Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-KPCOM) hosted its inaugural health exposition at the Tampa Bay Regional Campus as a way to provide students an opportunity to network and explore different medical specialties. The event began with a speaker series, where physicians from various specialties spoke about why they chose medicine and their various career paths, and ended with a networking social hour, where students were able to chat with the speakers, as well as learn about shadowing and research opportunities.
