PCOM Students form “Medical Students for Masks” Initiative
Students from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) have responded to the growing need for personal protective equipment and formed Medical Students for Masks, a group of medical and nursing students in the Philadelphia area dedicated to raising funds to secure FDA-approved N95 respirator masks for local health professionals. To date, they have raised almost $50,000 to purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) for local healthcare professionals on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine Students Call Struggling Parents to Help Them Cope During COVID-19 Crisis
Pediatricians are working with University of North Texas Health Science Center-Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNTHSC-TCOM) students who are reaching out to families through phone calls and telemedicine visits. The students are connecting parents to licensed social workers, resources such as Healthy Steps specialists, and scheduling telemedicine visits with a pediatrician. RVUCOM Students Redefine What it Means to Be a Volunteer

On-campus to Online: WVSOM Adjusts to Virtual Educational Environment
West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM)’s medical students have moved from a hands-on learning approach to manning keyboards in a virtual educational environment. The decision to do so was made by WVSOM President James W. Nemitz, PhD, in response to the pandemic and in abiding by West Virginia Governor Jim Justice's stay-at-home directive for the state. MSUCOM Students Build Hand-washing Stations in Detroit for the Homeless during COVID-19 Pandemic
After businesses have closed, finding a place to wash your hands is nearly impossible if you are living on the street. Detroit Street Care, a group of students from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM) who serve the homeless population, teamed up with Wayne State's program called Street Medicine Detroit, and built six hand-washing stations around the city in areas frequented by those who may need them. NSU-KPCOM First-Year Class Board and SGA Executive Raise Money for COVID-19 Initiative
The first-year Class Board and SGA Executive at the Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-KPCOM) Fort Lauderdale/Davie and Tampa Bay Regional campuses has raised more than $14,000 through its COVD-19 initiative to purchase FDA-approved personal protective equipment for Florida hospitals in need. LMU-DCOM Students Raise Over $5,000 in 48 Hours for PPE and Food for Health Care Workers
Three first-year medical students at Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) at LMU-Knoxville launched a fundraiser for personal protective equipment (PPE) and meals for area hospitals. They reached their initial goal of $1,000 in less than 24 hours. The students have begun purchasing meals and PPE and will soon be distributing them locally. Follow their progress.
