ICOM's Pediatrics Club Donates to Ronald McDonald House

Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM)’s Pediatric Interest Group collected more than 650 items during a food drive to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho. The students collected a variety of canned and non-perishable food items between August 24 and September 14. Read more about their food drive on the ICOM Facebook page.

RVU Office of Simulation in Medicine and Surgery Hosts Grand Opening of Healthcare Simulation Centers

During Healthcare Simulation Week, Rocky Vista University (RVU)’s Office of Simulation in Medicine and Surgery hosted a grand opening of its Healthcare Simulation Centers on both its Colorado and Southern Utah campuses. Students participated in virtual simulation workshops, such as clinical scenarios on astherosclerosis and shock, and saw previews of the updated space, including virtual-reality designated rooms and equipment and two new emergency and operating rooms. WVSOM Faculty Member Recognized as Professor of the Year Finalist

Peter Ward, PhD, a professor of anatomy in West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM)’s biomedical sciences department, was one of five finalists for the Faculty Merit Foundation’s 2019 Professor of the Year Award. The program is designed to reward innovation and creativity at West Virginia’s higher education institutions. Dr. Ward said he was grateful for the statewide acknowledgement of his devotion to students.

ATSU-KCOM Students Receive US Army Commissions

A.T. Still University-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) students recently received their commissions as second lieutenants in the US Army during a military ceremony Thursday on the Kirksville, MO campus. PCOM Georgia Spotlights Dr. Colette Bullock for Women in Medicine Month

During Women in Medicine month, PCOM Georgia recognized its female physicians who serve as faculty members and role models for students across all three of its campuses. Colette D. Bullock, DO, FACOI, was spotlighted for her successful practice, devotion to her patient relationships, and her contributions to the medical education community as a clinical assistant professor of internal medicine. PCOM Virtual Labs Teach Research Skills to Work Study Students

In response to Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM)’s transition to virtual learning, Marina D’Angelo, PhD, professor of bio-medical sciences, Patrisia Mattioli, senior research assistant, and their team worked diligently to construct a virtual research laboratory. The goal of the project was to enable their work-study students and volunteers to continue learning the skills they would need to work in research laboratories in a virtual environment. TUNCOM Medical Student Honored with Clark County Medical Society’s “Rising Star” Award

Fourth-year Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine (TUNCOM) student Victoria Lorah has been named the 2020 Clark County Medical Society (CCMS) “Rising Star” Award winner for her academic excellence. “I want to carry a joyful attitude into whatever environment I find myself in,” she said. “To be recognized for my work ethic and outlook means a great deal to me. UNE COM Student Scuba Dives to Help Heal the Saco River

University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNE COM) student Sarae Sager has taken her hobby to new depths: a certified scuba diver, Sager and a group of friends have spent recent weeks ridding the Saco River of debris left by pandemic partiers. Their efforts are focused near Buxton’s Pleasant Point Park, and have been recognized in the Portland Press Herald for their community service. Read more about Sager and her cleanup activities.
