Jessica and Danielle Myara are much more than sisters. Only 11 months apart in age, they’ve been each other’s support system, cheerleader, competitor and classmate. Having graduated with Master of Science degrees in Biomedical Sciences, both are now second-year medical students at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine Georgia Campus (PCOM Georgia) with aspirations of specializing in emergency medicine, cardiology or radiology upon graduation. Noorda-COM Honors Its Military Students and Veterans

Whether in white coats or branch uniforms, Noorda-COM is proud of its students, the futures they are building and their dedication to serving our country. Some students are members of Noorda-COM’s Association of Military Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, others are participants of the HPSP (and non-military VA HPSP) and several are active-duty personnel. Hundreds Turn Out for TUCOM-CA Open House

Nearly 300 prospective students arrived at Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine – California (TUCOM-CA) campus for an open house session that allowed attendees to meet faculty, current students, campus and student club members and to learn about osteopathic medical manipulation and much of the rest of the osteopathic medical curriculum offered at TUCOM-CA. Key Study Results from HSC’s PRECISION Pain Research Registry Published in JAMA Network Open

The Journal of the American Medical Association – Network Open has published findings from a recent University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth - Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNTHSC/TCOM) study about chronic lower back pain, race and the patient-physician relationship. The study revealed that Black patients reported worse outcomes for low back pain intensity and back-related disability compared with white patients. However, none of these racial differences in chronic pain outcomes was attributable to any aspect of the patient-physician relationship. Read more about the study’s methods and impressive results.


VCOM-Auburn Holds Anatomy Bake-Off

Participants were challenged to make a delicious treat that was inspired by the human body. They were then judged on taste, creativity and inclusion of anatomy. PCOM President Appointed to Board of State Health Association 

PCOM President and CEO Jay S. FeldsteinPCOM President and CEO Jay S. Feldstein, DO '81, was named to the Board of Directors for The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP), a statewide membership services organization in Harrisburg, PA.

“I am proud to welcome Dr. Feldstein to the HAP Board of Directors,” HAP President and CEO Andy Carter said. “As our board considers how to strengthen Pennsylvania's healthcare workforce and address other challenges facing hospitals, I especially look forward to the perspective he brings as an accomplished physician, healthcare manager and leader in recruiting and educating a passionate and diverse next generation of clinicians.” Read more about his appointment.

DMU-COM Students, Faculty Spark Girls’ Interest in Science

Research shows that while women are attending and completing college at higher rates than ever before, they represent only 26 percent of the college-educated workforce in science and engineering occupations, according to the National Science Board. The Science Center of Iowa wants to help change that with its Girls in Science Initiative, which aims to empower and equip girls in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). And on a recent evening, DMU-COM faculty and medical students joined the effort as participants in the initiative’s Meals with Mentors event for girls in grades 7-12.
