Medical students from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University (AZCOM)’s Emergency Medicine Club were among Midwestern University participants in a cadaver training program that helped Glendale Fire Department firefighters practice lifesaving skills and techniques.
The joint program between the Glendale Fire Department and Midwestern University’s Body Donation Program paired firefighters with donor bodies to practice procedures such as emergency intubation, placement of chest tubes, intraosseous vascular access to establish IVs, cricothyrotomy and other extremely important lifesaving techniques used in the field every day.
Ever Onward: DMU Marks 125 Years of Perseverance, Pride and Passion

When the Dr. S. S. Still College and Infirmary of Osteopathy – now Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine (DMU-COM) – opened its doors in 1898, only the most optimistic observers could have foreseen the school’s survival into the 21st century. Like many proprietary osteopathic schools that sprouted in the period, it was undercapitalized and short of students, faculty and facilities. But not only did the institution survive, it has thrived into its 125th anniversary this year, which will include the move to DMU’s new 88-acre campus in West Des Moines, Iowa. Behind-the-Scenes Shots of the Intermountain Neonatal Life Flight Team
Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine (Noorda-COM) stopped by Intermountain Life Flight nurse’s helipad to shoot some Interprofessional Education videos. Part of students' curriculum involves watching interview-style videos, where various healthcare professionals talk about their backgrounds and roles. These videos help students understand (and admire!) the professionals they’ll interact with during clerkships, clinical experiences and future careers. View more photos on NoordaCOM’s Instagram.
