ICOM Student Donates Stem Cells

Nearly two years have passed since Student Doctor Madison Summers became part of the National Marrow Donor Program, having registered through a Be the Match event at the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM). Embracing the Frontier: WVSOM Honors Employees and Retirees in a Western-Themed Celebration

In a spirited celebration, the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) embraced a Western theme for its annual Employee Celebration in 2023. Honoring the new retirees, the event showcased their photos on "wanted" posters and encouraged attendees to don frontier-era costumes. On June 22, the lively occasion, hosted by WVSOM's Office of Human Resources, saw the distribution of 18 awards across five categories, recognizing outstanding contributions from dedicated employees. In an effort to bolster community health, student members from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine – Virginia Campus (VCOM-Virginia)'s chapter of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians have joined forces with the local Habitat for Humanity in Roanoke. Together, they are working to construct homes for families, acknowledging the pivotal role of healthy living conditions in promoting overall well-being. The students' dedication to this cause has garnered admiration and pride from the community, highlighting the significance of their commitment in fostering a healthier environment for all. ICOM Students Complete Medical Mission in Panama

A team of medical students from ICOM just concluded a medical service trip to Panama. During their week-long stay, these future physicians conducted a free clinic in Higueronal, a Latino community in Eastern Panama. The six ICOM students made a significant impact by offering vital medical care and imparting essential hygiene education to the community. VCOM-Louisiana Hosts Internal Medicine Residents from Local Hospital for Code Blue Simulation Lab

Internal Medicine residents at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, Louisiana, practiced running a code blue in the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine – Louisiana Campus (VCOM-Louisiana) simulation lab, with the assistance of VCOM-Louisiana simulation interns. Students from the VCOM-Louisiana Classes of 2024 and 2025 will be working with these residents during their clinical rotations in the coming year.  View photos from their recent simulation experience.
