On February 7, Western University of Health Sciences opened its first clinic, Western U Oliver Station, in southeastern Portland, OR. John Pham, DO, Vice Dean and Associate Professor of Family Medicine at Western U/COMP will be the Medical Director.
The clinic is located in a section of Portland undergoing an economic revitalization and will be an important part of the community. Students from Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (Western U/COMP) will have the opportunity to conduct family medicine rotations at this facility. There are also discussions about using the clinic for family medicine residency programs in the future.
During the opening ceremonies, Western University President Daniel Wilson, MD, PhD revealed a plaque (pictured below) dedicating the clinic to Western U/COMP Dean Paula Crone, DO. In July 2018, Dr. Crone became an at-large member of AACOM's Board of Deans Executive Committee.
The plaque reads: “This clinic is dedicated in honor of Dr. Paula Crone, Vice President and Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific at the Western University of Health Sciences. A little girl with dreams may become a woman of vision with a life dedicated to education and service. Thereby, she is a steadfast inspiration to those who know her and a light of hope to all. Unending thanks to you Dr. Crone.”
