On September 11 and 12, 2019, leaders from 15 of AACOM’s councils, societies, and academies traveled to AACOM headquarters in Bethesda, MD, where they participated in a one-and-a-half-day workshop. Dr. Robert A. Cain, who began his role as AACOM's President and CEO earlier this year, led a discussion about leadership styles, outlined the state of osteopathic medical education today, reviewed upcoming goals for the association, and hosted a question and answer session for all attendees.
During the meeting, each leader shared an overview of their group’s structure and activities. They participated in large- and small-group breakout workshops to begin creating a council-specific infographic to depict their value to the osteopathic medical education community. The councils also discussed ideas on how to better connect with and increase engagement for council initiatives, and they voted on the theme for Educating Leaders 2021, the AACOM Annual Conference.
