Apply for AACOM's Osteopathic Health Policy Internship (OHPI) Program! During this eight-week internship, osteopathic medical students will have the opportunity to develop intimate knowledge of federal health care and higher education policy, and make a foundational impact on public policy formulation. Selected students may seek to obtain approval from their colleges of osteopathic medicine to count this internship as an elective rotation.

Each OHPI will gain first-hand experience working at the national level at AACOM's Office of Government Relations in Washington, DC, where they will explore and be immersed in policy development, analysis, and implementation. OHPIs will observe and participate in legislative and regulatory processes, cover key hearings and briefings on Capitol Hill, and attend meetings at federal agencies of importance to osteopathic medical education.

[My internship] has been an experience of a lifetime. I had the privilege of attending various congressional hearings, meetings, and countless webinars, and reading up on articles and news stories, which has given me a well-versed experience in health policy.

AACOM will provide taxable benefits for each OHPI, including a $3,500 stipend and housing. AACOM will also cover the cost of local travel for business purposes and certain other approved expenses.
