Two Weeks Left to Apply for the Osteopathic Health Policy Internship

The 2020-2021 application deadline for AACOM’s  Osteopathic Health Policy Internship (OHPI) Program is Friday, January 24, 2020. Interested students should submit their application today! 

During this eight-week internship, osteopathic medical students will have the opportunity to develop intimate knowledge of federal healthcare and higher education policy. Selected students will have the opportunity to: 

  • Participate in the legislative and regulatory process by attending hearings and briefings on Capitol Hill.
  • Attend meetings at the U.S. Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, Veterans Affairs, and other federal agencies as needed to monitor ongoing public policy issues for AACOM.
  • Observe and implement appropriate advocacy techniques and provide ongoing support to the AACOM Office of Government Relations (GR).
  • Cover coalition and stakeholder meetings and conferences as directed by the GR office, and research important policy issues that affect osteopathic medical education.
  • Develop networking skills throughout the internship process, and deliver an advocacy and policy presentation at AACOM headquarters.
