AACOM's Newest Council on Residency Placement Seeks to Provide Support for Students and COMs

applicants-rd-icon AACOM's newest council, the Council on Residency Placement (CORP), will be open to individuals whose roles are focused on advising students for residency match placement. CORP will meet in-person during Educating Leaders, the AACOM annual conference.

The purpose of the council is to provide support and career development resources for colleges of osteopathic medicine to successfully mentor students through the transition to graduate medical education. CORP will also provide support and career development resources for students, advocate on behalf of students and member colleges, and serve as a professional forum for shared learning and collaboration related to the successful transition to GME.

The council was first recommended by the UME-GME Residency Match Working Group to the AACOM Board of Deans in April 2019. AACOM then established the Residency Match Success Task Force to help guide the development of the council. The task force met on August 17 and October 10 of last year.

CORP will meet in-person in March during the annual conference, and future meetings will be scheduled at that time.
