New Report Outlines Trends in COM Revenues and Expenditures

AACOM has recently released a new report, FY2017 Revenues and Expenditures by Osteopathic Medical College, available in the reports section on the association website. Key findings from the report are as follows:
- While revenues have increased overall by 12 percent for private colleges of osteopathic medicine (COMs) since FY2016, overall revenues for public COMs have decreased by 6 percent for FY2017.
- Expenditures and transfers have increased by 14 percent for private COMs since last reported in FY2016, while expenditures and transfers for public COMs have also increased by 3 percent.
- When concerning excess of revenues over expenditures and transfers, there was a slight increase of 2 percent for private COMs while there was a significant decrease of 63 percent in excess of revenues over expenditures and transfers for public COMs since FY2016.
- Some private and public COMs have experienced a deficit and/or deficit increase for FY2017, while other COMs who experienced a deficit in FY2016 have either experienced an excess in revenues over expenditures and transfers or have lessened their deficit.
