AACOM Publishes 2019-2020 Entering Student Survey Summary Report

AACOM has recently released the 2019-2020 Academic Year Entering Student Survey Summary Report, which is now available online. Some key findings from this year’s report are as follows:

• Half of students entering in 2019 plan to practice in an underserved/shortage area.
• The mean expected scholarship/grant award amounts reported by the 2019 entering class is $98,575, an increase of 10.3 percent or $9,221 from 2018.
• The majority of the entering class, 91 percent, plan on pursing residency immediate post-graduation, a decrease of 3 percent from 2018.
• Eighty-four percent of entering students expect to have medical education debt on graduation.
• The entering class of 2019 reported a mean debt of $185,654; a slight increase from 2018 by $1,371 or 0.74 percent.
