Noorda-COM (Proposed) Becomes Newest AACOM Member College
Published August 18, 2020
AACOM is proud to welcome Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine (proposed) (Noorda-COM) in Provo, UT, as one of its newest members. AACOM now represents 37 US colleges of osteopathic medicine (COMs) in 33 states.
The addition of Noorda’s program represents an important milestone for the growing osteopathic medical profession, especially for the region around Provo. Utah currently ranks in the bottom 10 percent of the nation in key physician workforce categories, including active physicians.
However, Utah is at the center of the fastest growing region within the United States, with Utah County at the epicenter of this historical growth of the Intermountain West. The state’s technology sector is at the heart of this boom: projections estimate the state will grow by an additional 1,000,000 people over the next 15 years, with 600,000 of those predicted to reside in Utah County.
Students will earn their Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degrees while taking advantage of the school’s innovative, state-of-the-art campus. Throughout the program, students will be provided with individualized, discipline-specific and cumulative performance metrics. This real-time data will help to identify areas for student improvement, maximizing their opportunities to succeed.
At the end of every other week, faculty will lead live, learning-objective-specific reviews that will be delivered based on data collected from that cycle. These sessions will be used as a forum for faculty to provide interactive and tailored support for topics that students found challenging during the preceding period. Advanced content will then be selectively available to students who desire a deeper dive on areas of personal interest.
