Dr. William Pieratt Appointed as New Dean of Burrell

William Pieratt, DOBurrell College of Osteopathic Medicine recently announced the appointment of William Pieratt, DO, as Burrell's Dean and Chief Academic Officer, following an extensive national search.

“The leadership, faculty, staff and students of Burrell have achieved tremendous success in a relatively short time, and the potential for future growth and further success is unparalleled,” Dr. Pieratt said. “I am honored and humbled to be chosen to help lead us toward those goals and cannot wait to get started!”

Dr. Pieratt received his Bachelor of Science at Texas A&M University, and his Doctor of Osteopathy at the University of North Texas Health Science Center-Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNTHSC-TCOM) at Fort Worth. Afterward, he joined Scott & White Memorial Hospital as part of their Internal Medicine Residency Program. He also spent nine years working as a Senior Staff Physician at Baylor Scott & White Health.

In 2013, Dr. Pieratt started working at Texas A&M Health Science Center as Course Director for the school's Internal Medicine clerkship. Later, as Director of the A&M Integrated Medicine program, he implemented and directed a longitudinal, integrated curriculum for third-year medical students involved at the Bryan-College Station clinical campus of Texas A&M. As Associate Dean at Texas A&M University System Health Science Center, Dr. Pieratt oversaw Bryan-College Station, along with more than 100 faculty and staff. He is currently a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a Diplomate for the American Board of Internal Medicine.
