Webinar: 3 Key Changes to CMS Graduate Medical Education Funding Opportunities

Join AACOM's Assembly of Osteopathic Graduate Medical Educators (AOGME) and healthcare law partners Emily Cook and Drew McCormick of McDermott Will & Emery for a webinar to review the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) rule that finalizes three key changes related to graduate medical education (GME) funding opportunities, including:

1. Distribution of 1,000 new residency slots—the largest increase in more than 25 years. Eligible hospitals must apply for new residency slots by March 31, 2022. Among other topics covered, participants will learn about the eligibility criteria and the application process to receive additional residency slots.
2. Changes applicable to the Rural Training Track (RTT) program, including allowing full time equivalent (FTE) cap increases for urban and rural hospitals that participate in a new RTT program, and making both urban and rural hospitals eligible for adjusted FTE resident caps when additional RTT programs are established after the first program.
3. Changes allowing certain hospitals that inadvertently set low or zero per resident amounts (PRAs) or FTE caps after hosting medical residents for short duration to reset their caps and/or PRAs.
