PCOM Georgia 'Goes Big' at Atlanta Science Festival

Thunderstorms in the early morning of Saturday, March 25, 2023, belied the beautiful day it would become as PCOM Georgia shone brightly at the Atlanta Science Festival, which attracted about 18,000 attendees to Piedmont Park in midtown Atlanta. A PCOM Georgia festival organizer, Darnae Parks, director of Diversity and Community Partnerships, lauded students and employees alike for their “efforts to bring PCOM Georgia to the Greater Atlanta Community.”

UNE COM and Geisel Ultrasound Team Gets 2nd Place in National SonoSlam Competition

Third-year University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNE COM) student Andrea Roche and three Geisel SOM students attended UltraCon, a conference put on by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, to compete in SonoSlam, an annual competition where teams from medical schools across the country compete in challenge rounds that test a wide range of ultrasound skills, exams and applications. The UNE COM and Geisel team took second place out of the 16 schools competing.
UNTHSC-TCOM’s Research Appreciation Day Award Winners Announced

VCOM-Virginia Student Organizations Create Care Packages for Pediatric Patients

It's no fun being sick no matter how old you are, but it can be even worse for children. Four Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine Virginia Campus (VCOM-Virginia) student organizations partnered to apply for a grant that enabled them to hold a bake sale with goods made by the students. The proceeds from the sale were put toward care packages for pediatric patients in the area. The packages included teddy bears and handwritten notes. "We hope these donation packages will give kids a little pick-me-up when they need it most," said Sydney Moriarty, student American Academy of Osteopathy president, Class of 2025. VCOM-Louisiana Students Participate in Hazardous Waste Collection Event

The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine Louisiana Campus (VCOM-Louisiana) Volunteer Committee helped organize student volunteers for Ouachita Green's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event, where VCOM-Louisiana students helped to properly dispose of expired and unused pharmaceuticals from hundreds of community members.
