Osteopathic Medical Colleges Research Reports Trends Tuition and Fees
Fifty-two private and 13 public colleges of osteopathic medicine (COMs) reported data for the 2024-25 Cost of Attendance (COA) Report. Ten COMs – eight private and two public – reported a decrease in COA since the 2023-24 academic year, while one private COM reported no change. Nineteen COMs – 14 private and five public – reported a decrease in average graduate indebtedness since academic year 2023-24; one private COM reported no change.
The average total COA for private COMs is $380,501, an increase of $9,098 (2.4%) since the 2023-24 COA Report; the annual average for private COMs is $95,125, an increase of $2,274 (2.4%). The average total COA for public COMs is $319,498, an increase of $21,617 (7.3%) since the 2023-24 COA Report, with an annual average of $79,875, an increase of $5,405 (7.3%) since the 2023-24 COA Report. Combined, private and public COMs have an average total COA of $367,701, an increase of $10,581 (3.0%) since the 2023-24 COA Report, with an annual average of $91,925, an increase of $2,645 (3.0%) since the 2023-24 COA Report.
The average total COA for private COMs exceeds public COMs by $61,003 (17.4%); however, the gap decreased by $12,519 (17.0%) since the 2023-24 COA Report. The annual COA difference between private and public COMs is $15,250 (17.4%), a decrease of $3,131 (17.0%) since the 2023-24 COA Report.
