The Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) has named Kevin Wilson, DO, FACOI, FACP (pictured left), as Interim Dean, following the resignation of Founding Dean Robert T. Hasty, DO, FACOI, FACP. ICOM’s Board of Trustees has commissioned the search for a new Dean prior to the start of the 2019-20 academic year, which begins August 5. Dr. Hasty will leave Idaho’s first medical school to help lead the creation of a new osteopathic medical school, which will soon be announced.

“Dr. Wilson understands ICOM on many levels and has already played a key role in the success of the school from its formation until today,” said Tracy J. Farnsworth, EdD, MHSA, MBA, FACHE, President and CEO of ICOM. “He stood out as a natural fit to lead as Interim Dean while a nationwide search is conducted for a permanent dean.”

For the past two years, Dr. Wilson has served as Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs for ICOM, playing an integral role in securing the school’s 35 clinical affiliation sites, while advancing its commitment to grow residency programs across Idaho.

“I am honored to have been chosen for this position,” Dr. Wilson said. “I will do everything I can to support our students, faculty and staff, and to ensure that ICOM remains a thriving medical school.”

Dr. Wilson received his BS in Biology from Oakland University in Rochester, MI before earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1988. He completed his internship and Internal Medicine residency at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital in Highland Park, MI.

Dr. Wilson practiced inpatient and outpatient Internal Medicine from 1992-2017 in Cottonwood, Arizona at Verde Valley Medical Center. While there, he developed the center’s Internal Medicine residency and served as the Director of Medical Education and Program Director.
