Dear Colleagues,

As we reach the midpoint of spring, I want to thank all AOGME members for your ongoing engagement and dedication to osteopathic graduate medical education. This month has offered us several opportunities to share ideas, showcase best practices and collectively address the challenges facing our learning environments.

This month, I had the opportunity to attend the NBOME Liaison Committee meeting and share information about AOGME’s activities and goals. In early June, the AOGME leadership will convene with returning and newly elected board members to review the strategic goals and respond to changes in the GME environment. If you have feedback for us to consider, please contact us at aogme@aacom.org

A Note of Appreciation

I’d like to take a moment to recognize Austin Wetmore, who recently concluded his time with AACOM after nearly four years supporting AOGME as Program Manager. Many of you know Austin from his work coordinating our webinars, preparing for membership meetings, and managing our newsletter. His dedication and collaborative spirit made a lasting impact on our community. We wish him all the best in his next chapter and thank him sincerely for everything he contributed to AOGME.

Highlighting Recent Webinars

The AOGME Webinar Series continues to be a valuable space for dialogue and professional development. In recent weeks, we’ve hosted sessions on:

  • May 7, 2025, 4:00 PM ET: GME Development Series session on outcomes data from community-based and rural underserved residency programs.
  • May 15, 2025, 4:00 PM ET: Academic Careers Pathways session providing guidance and information on scholarly activity for GME programs.

These discussions were rich with insights and offered actionable takeaways. If you missed them, recordings are available on our website. I encourage you to share these resources with your teams and consider them as topics for further conversation at your institutions. On May 28, 2025, 4:00 PM ET, we will host a panel discussion for our final Graduate-Level Osteopathic Training Series on how OPP can be better integrated into the clinical curriculum. View the full webinar schedule.

Celebrating Leadership and Service

We also extend our congratulations once again to the 2025 AOGME Award recipients—Drs. Amanda Maynard, Brian Mulroy, and Thomas Boyle—and the newest Collegium of Fellows inductees, Drs. Sherry Turner and Theotonius Gomes. Your leadership and service continue to inspire the AOGME community.

Membership Meeting and GME Spotlights

Join us on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 4:00 PM ET for our AOGME membership discussion. These forums offer an opportunity for open dialogue and allow us to feature GME programs integrating osteopathic training in innovative ways. If you would like your program spotlighted, we would love to hear from you at aogme@aacom.org.

Please feel free to reach out to us at any time with direct inquiries by emailing aogme@aacom.org.

We sincerely appreciate your ongoing involvement, commitment and support for AOGME!
