Advocacy Day 2026 Issues
Promote DO Graduate Medical Education Parity through the FAIR Act
The  Fair Access In Residency (FAIR) Act (H.R. 2314 / S. 2715) ensures that DOs have equal access to Medicare-funded graduate medical education (GME) programs by requiring program directors to affirm that they will accept applications from osteopathic medical students and recognize COMLEX-USA for residency selection.
Expand Community-Based Clinical Rotations with the Community TEAMS Act
The Community TEAMS Act (H.R. 3885 / S. 3989) expands clinical rotation opportunities for third- and fourth-year medical students in rural and medically underserved communities through a new HRSA grant program.
Advocacy Day Agenda
Day 1: Get Trained. Get Inspired.
Issue Overview and Advocacy Training
On September 16, osteopathic medical students, residents, educators and leaders heard remarks from U.S. Senator Steve Daines (R-MT), U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) and U.S. Representative Aaron Bean (R-FL). AACOM’s Government Relations team equipped advocates with an in-depth overview of our two priority bills and key talking points, along with a mock congressional meeting.
Mock Congressional Meeting
Day 2: Take Action. Be Heard.
On September 17, more than 550 advocates participated in more than 250 congressional meetings across 44 states, asking their Members of Congress to support two critical osteopathic policy priorities.
Keep the Momentum Going
Advocacy Day may be over, but Congress still needs to hear from you. It only takes a few minutes to urge your Members of Congress to cosponsor these bipartisan, bicameral bills
