Charge

The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) Board of Deans established the UME-GME Steering Committee in 2022. This three-year effort, led by a 15-member steering committee, is chaired by AACOM Board Member Brian Kessler, DO, dean and chief academic officer at the Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine.

This mission is to: 

  • Address the transition from undergraduate medical education (UME) to graduate medical education (GME)
  • Improve graduate level osteopathic medical education
  • Strengthen the osteopathic model of medical education

About

AACOM's UME-GME Task Force is comprised of three Working Groups who are assigned to focus on the following areas:

  • Transition to Residency
  • Graduate Level Osteopathic Training, and
  • Strengthening the Osteopathic Model of Education.

Each Working Group has created deliverables for use by the Osteopathic Medical Education and Osteopathic Graduate Medical Education community.
